San Francisco reverses course, votes to give police more power and require drug screening for welfare

San Francisco voters are finally showing a small measure of common sense.

It only took a few decades!

Remember this from 2020?

Yeah, well, the mass exodus of shops and residents due to crime seems to have made them realize their plan was really stupid.

During referendums in the city last night, San Franciscans decided to pass Proposition E and Proposition F, which might change the city entirely.

Okay, generally I wouldn't want police to have more drones and cameras, but with a city as far gone as San Francisco...

Well, there's an argument to be made.

So Prop. E passed.

Proposition E, Mayor London Breed's measure to expand the power of San Francisco police, passed Tuesday, an indication that voters are backing the mayor's law enforcement push as she faces a difficult reelection bid in November. The measure won with 62.62% of the vote, according to early returns.

Is this just an empty gesture to make it look like Mayor Breed cares about crime before the November election? Maybe so. I'd like to see them actually prosecute criminals first.

But it's a sign that Frisco Democrats know that crime is out of control.

Or at least ... some Frisco Democrats.

🤣🤣🤣

Proposition F, which also passed, requires single adults to be screened for drug use before receiving welfare money. I'm not sure why this only applies to single adults, except for the fact that they may abuse the system more often, but at least it's a start.

A contentious ballot measure sponsored by Mayor London Breed to mandate drug screenings for welfare recipients was overwhelmingly passed Tuesday, sending a clear message that voters want to see a more aggressive response to the city's drug crisis.

The measure passed with 65.4% of the vote after the first round of balloting was reported.

Yeah, Californians are tired of paying for people's drug habits.

When your crime and drug policies have lost the citizens of San Francisco you know that things have gone off the rails.
