Everyone is arguing about Trump sharing a pic of Jesus standing with him in the courtroom but I probably have the most unpopular take of them all

Ah, the internet, the place you go when you need a reminder of humanity's total depravity apart from the saving grace of God.

That sure is a picture, huh?

Trump shared that on Truth Social last night, and like anything the man posts, it immediately sparked controversy on the internet.

These were the two general reactions.

One:

Two:

One side is out there screeching about how Trump isn't a Christian and doesn't act like a Christian (AND DON'T YOU KNOW JESUS WAS A BROWN COMMIE ANYWAY REEEEE), while the other side treats him as a Messianic figure in his own right.

But if I had to respond to this madness, my own thoughts would be something like this:

[Primes grenade, chucks it into the comment section]

Here's what I mean.

Politicians like Joe Biden will often reference their own "deeply devout" faith, then they'll go out and say something like "PALMIST" as they awkwardly try to reference the words of the God they supposedly believe in.

Even worse, you have politicians out there using Bible verses to call for the destruction of property (and the concept of property), the abortion of children, every sexual fetish you could ever imagine, and grooming little Gaia worshippers who mutilate their genitals at the behest of predators.

So when a guy like Trump comes along - a man who says he doesn't need repentance or forgiveness, who is the peak example of pride, who can't control his tongue, and who doesn't live according to God's designs - you'd think he'd just be like the other politicians who want to use God for his own glory.

And perhaps a part of that is indeed true.

But he's also the only guy within two thousand miles of DC who would post a picture of Jesus defending him in a courtroom! ๐Ÿ˜‚

There's something foolish and yet endearing about that.

The name of Jesus Christ has been sanitized from our halls of power. You can't get supposed Christian politicians to even whisper his name. They talk about "God" and providence and the divine - with a little "Amen and Awoman" on the side these days - but they won't dare talk about Jesus.

So sure, you can rant about how Trump clearly needs a savior, and how [PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO RANT IN THE COMMENTS] some of the Trump crowd clearly needs to tone down the messiah worship comparing him to Christ...

But as for me, I am glad that such a man would share silly boomer memes of himself hanging with Jesus in the courtroom, because the name of Jesus is being magnified one way or the other. Meanwhile, the wisdom of the world - the so-called experts with their high-browed decorum - are being clowned by the foolishness of God, who would use a man like Trump in spite of Trump.

As the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippian church 2,000 years ago:

To be sure, some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of good will. These preach out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; the others proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, thinking that they will cause me trouble in my imprisonment. What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is proclaimed, and in this I rejoice.

So why are a bunch of people getting all bent out of shape over this?

Laugh, my dudes!

The pastors in their skinny jeans circa 2004 weren't wrong when they said the church in America had become pietistic, stoic, and pharisaical at the expense of reaching their neighbors for Jesus. Not only the church, but all our institutions, became like those old kings of Gondor in The Lord of The Rings, who "sat in aged halls musing on heraldry or in high cold towers asking questions of the stars."

Where these pastors went wrong was thinking "Thou Shalt Be Winsome" and friendliness to the "tolerance" of the world was the answer when the answer was always to smash the idols and declare Christ is King.

So instead of foaming at the mouth that Trump would dare invoke the name of Jesus because he's a mean orange man, I'm going to be over here enjoying that fool of a Took sharing his cheesy memes and all the cheesy-and-theologically-bonkers people praying for him with posts like this:

And I'll be praying for him too, because even a Nebuchadnezzar can come to praise the Lord.
