Okay, this is more than a little bit concerning; like, I don't think this is normal and it's definitely not sustainable.
Where are all the 20-somethings?
Well, it looks like a lot of them are being kept off the battlefield, as they are the future of the nation. And we can't forget the many who have already died in battle. But how much longer can this last? And how long until Ukraine asks for young soldiers from England or the U.S.?
Former UK defense secretary Ben Wallace in a Sunday op-ed for The Telegraph urged the West not to pause support for Ukraine for even a single day, writing, "The world is watching to see if the West has the resolve to stand up for our values and the rules-based system. What we do now for Ukraine will set the direction for all of our security for years to come."
Wallace's piece is unironically entitled Ukraine is winning. Now let's finish the job and claims that victory for Kyiv is not only possibly but even imminent if only the West keeps up its support and the Zelensky government follows NATO's guidance. Wallace admits that the question of manpower is not in Ukraine's favor, however.
More from former UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace:
So it looks to me as if there are a few options here while Putin is on his heels:
Ukraine throws more young Ukrainians into the war.
Ukraine's allies (that's us) throw some of our young troops into the war (that starts WW3).
The never-ending war simply continues with these older soldiers on the frontlines until the Russian ability to churn out endless numbers of soldiers allows a mathematical conclusion to the matter.
Obviously, this is Ukraine's war, and they need to buck up and use more of their citizens. However, NATO has been more than accommodating to the war effort, so I can totally see Zelensky convincing our leaders to send troops to battle.
And that, my friends, would be World War 3.
