Trump had his social media accounts suspended yesterday. First, there was Twitter with a 12-hour suspension contingent on him removing some tweets. But Facebook and Instagram quickly followed with a 24-hour ban.
Well, Zuck just snuck out of his terrarium to post the following update about Trump's Facebook and Instagram suspension:
That final paragraph is the most important:
We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.
This is absolutely wild.
Just setting aside the events of yesterday for a moment, consider how big a move this is for social media companies to collude to ban the President of the United States of America.
