You literally cannot make this stuff up!
A homeschool advocacy group called Texans for Homeschool Freedom has been facing a nightmare created by Facebook's algorithm.
It started with a warning when visitors searched for their page: "www.facebook.com/TexansForHomeschoolFreedom"
Are you sure you want to continue?
The page you searched for is sometimes associated with the sale of drugs, which isn't allowed on Facebook.
If you or someone you know struggle with drug misuse, there are organizations that can help.
Jessica Lovett, their creative director said,
Even our most dedicated followers, who persist through the warnings to find us, are either redirected to a drug rehab resource or completely blocked from accessing our site. This entire situation has been incredibly bewildering.
So, why does Facebook think these homeschooling ladies are dealing drugs?
A Facebook representative told the group:
Your Page name has a word texan associated which is a type of injectable drug and due to this reason you are receiving this error.
Yep, the word "Texan" is a drug: one the folks fleeing leftist states can't get enough of, right?
Emily Fort, their social media director, pointed out that the algorithm can't be right:
There are thirty million people in Texas who are, by definition, Texans. How are they all getting around this problem?
That's got to be a joke ...
There are literally thousands of FB pages that have the word Texan in the name. Restaurants, hotels, sports teams, schools, etc.
Then she sent them a quick search of pages with Texans in the name:
Facebook refused to elevate their request for fixing the algorithm and deleted or blocked their page for violating their terms regarding drug sales, though it seems to be back up as of the time of this writing.
Fort told us,
I don't know what kind of drugs they think we're selling, but would sure appreciate some more attention on this, so we can [get] back to doing our REAL work: advocating for Homeschoolers here in Texas!
Their president, Faith (Bussey) Howe, also assured us they were not in fact selling drugs:
Our page has been around for years, advocating for homeschool freedom in Texas. We've never once had a post about drugs.
In the end, Howe summed up exactly what the real issue Facebook has with the terms "Texas," "Homeschool," and "Freedom."
Is it a coincidence that, as we fight a globalist agenda, a globalist tech company censors our content? Can't have the masses finding out about things like liberty.
Is it a coincidence? Have other educational groups with the word "Texans" been censored??
Or is it just the conservative homeschooling one?
