Anthony Fauci believes that, if enough people get the COVID booster shots they hadn't originally been told they would have to get, the pandemic will be over in just a few short months:
"To me if you want to get endemic, you have got to get the level of infection so low that it does not have an impact on society, on your life, on your economy," Fauci said. "People will still get infected. People might still get hospitalized, but the level would be so low that we don't think about it all the time and it doesn't influence what we do..."
"Look what other countries are doing now about adopting a booster campaign virtually for everybody. I think if we do that, and we do it in earnest, I think by the spring we can have pretty good control of this."
That sounds like pretty encouraging news! It also sounds eerily similar to Fauci's predictions about the vaccine before everyone started talking about booster shots:
[I]f we can get through this winter, and get really the majority, overwhelming majority of the 90 million people who have not been vaccinated, vaccinated, I hope we can start to get some good control in the spring of 2022...
If we can do that with the people who have been infected, get them revaccinated. The people who are unvaccinated now, that 90 million people get them vaccinated, I think we can get a degree of overall blanket protection of the community that as we get into the early part of 2022, getting through the winter, which could be complicated by influenza, by respiratory syncytial virus, that as we get into the spring, we could start getting back to a degree of normality, namely re assuming the things that we were hoping we could do.
Or what about even further back in 2020?
Okay, so, the original game plan was that the pandemic could be throttled once we "slowed the spread" with lockdowns, then it was once enough people had natural immunity and the vulnerable had the vax, then it was once everyone had the vax, and now it's once everyone has the booster shot.
There's no way that Fauci and everyone will call for another round of vaccinations after this one, right?
