As it turns out, in sane world, even judges aren't actually above the law.
The FBI arrested Judge Juan Cano and his wife after it was revealed that they had been harboring a Tren de Aragua gang member.
Judge Cano had resigned after evidence emerged that the poor, helpless migrant that his wife brought into their home was actually a Venezuelan gang member.
From Fox14 in Las Cruces:
The raid comes after Cano had resigned in March following accusations that he and his wife, Nancy, had hosted Cristhian Ortega Lopez, an undocumented migrant from Venezuela, and an alleged TdA member.
In one viral video, Cano and his wife are seen handing one of their rifles to Lopez (again, a member of a brutal Venezuelan gang who illegally crossed the border into the United States).
Thankfully, the New Mexico Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that Cano was disqualified from holding any judicial office in the state ever again.
Judges being held accountable and facing consequences for failing to abide by the same laws they are sworn to uphold?
Here's hoping this is a sign of things to come.
