Florida atheist Ke'shawn NeSmith got into an argument with his second cousin, Pastor Jimmy McGauley, at a funeral for a family member.

The police report said that the argument was about the existence of God, heaven, and hell. The pastor attempted to witness to NeSmith, who became so enraged that he barged out of the residence with other family members trailing after him, trying to calm him down.

Later when Pastor McGauley exited the residence, NeSmith was waiting with a gun and shot him in the neck.

The police report said,

Witnesses at the scene stated that the victim did not threaten the suspect in any way, and he was not armed with any weapons when he was shot. Family members detained the suspect at the scene until police arrived.

McGauley was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery for his wounds. There is no word on his current condition.

NeSmith was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder, carrying a concealed firearm, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

What no hate crime for a crime committed on the basis of someone's religion?

Oh right, he was a Christian.

Never mind.
