Florida man thinks he sees a dog on a leash in the bushes around midnight, ends up getting part of his leg bit off by an alligator

Well, this story has "Florida man" written all over it. But honestly how does any Florida man, woman, or even child make this mistake?

This guy has to be a Yankee.

Because—and I know I'm repeating myself—because literally nobody from the Southeastern United States would ever in a million years make this mistake.

Witnesses say 49-year-old Ray Schott, the live-in maintenance man at Warm Mineral Springs Motel, was smoking in the motel's courtyard after midnight Tuesday when he thought he saw a dog on a long leash coming out of the bushes near him.

Schott quickly realized it was not a dog but a 7-foot alligator.

"A dog on a long leash"???

"Was smoking in the motel's courtyard"???

🤔🤔🤔

Really the only honest explanation for this, if you're thinking what I'm thinking.

Anyhow…

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office says the gator bit the man's right leg, held on and began pulling apart his leg muscles until it ripped a chunk off…

Schott's wife of 35 years says her husband is grateful to be alive as he recovers in the hospital.

Seriously wish this guy the best of luck in his recovery.

I know he'll never, ever make this mistake again.

And neither will you.

Don't you love learning from other people's mistakes?
