Christopher Musick of Daytona Beach was happily running an alleged mortgage fraud scheme, taking out second mortgages on properties he didn't own, and using the money to buy his own properties and collect rent.
He never paid the bills on those other properties. They weren't his after all.
And on top of that he had the perfect plan to keep the police off his back.
Well almost perfect.
His doormat read: "come back with a warrant".
There was only one weakness with his plan really: Volusia police officers who could read.
They posted the following story to social media:
After interviewing Musick, VSO Financial Crimes Unit detectives established probable cause to execute a search warrant at his residence, thereby satisfying the doormat's request.
Musick is now in custody for an organized scheme to defraud and grand theft over $100,000. His bond is $225,000. He also has 10 prior felony convictions and 2 outstanding warrants out of Maryland.
