A San Francisco woman called a Waymo driverless taxi to take her to the hospital on Monday night after going into labor.

Why you would call a driverless car to take you to the hospital to have a baby is beyond me.

Waymo reported that the car detected "unusual activity," prompting its rider support team to call and check on the rider, who informed them exactly what the unusual activity was.

The support team alerted 911, but the woman gave birth on her own before EMS had time to respond to the call. It's not clear from reports if there were any other passengers in the car with the woman...at least at the start of the ride.

Not only did this woman deliver her baby in the robotaxi, but the car also delivered her to the front doors of the hospital within a few short minutes of giving birth.

I can't think of a better time to have a self-driving car than when you're literally giving birth.

In a statement to WABC, Waymo said,

This is not the first baby to be born inside a Waymo vehicle. While it's a rare occurrence... some of our newest riders just can't wait to experience their first ride.

The next day, this happened in the same city:

You can't win 'em all!
