This is awesome.
Florida wants to build an ICE detention facility at an abandoned airport in the middle of the Everglades and call it "Alligator Alcatraz" cuz there's nothing but gators and pythons for miles in the surrounding wetlands.
Dig this:
This 30-square-mile area is completely surrounded by the Everglades, presents an efficient low-cost opportunity to build a temporary detention facility because you don't need to invest that much in the perimeter. People get out, there's not much waiting for them other than alligators and pythons. Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.

AG James Uthmeier says once construction begins the facility could be up and running within 30-60 days.
