WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HECK?

Valente was a Brown student and lived in … Miami?

Gonna need a lot more answers than that.

Earlier on Thursday, police said Valente is not only connected to the shooting inside a Brown University engineering class last Saturday, but is also the suspect in the assassination of a top U.S. nuclear scientist, Nuno Loureiro.

Police believe Valente drove 50 miles from Brown, which is in Rhode Island, to Massachusetts, and killed MIT director Loureiro two days after the campus attack.

Loureiro was killed in his own home in the middle of the night.

Notably, Nuno Loureiro was also Portuguese and graduated from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon in 2000 with a Master's in Engineering before moving to the UK for his doctorate. Valente also attended IST and was removed from a teaching assistant position there in February 2000.

Valente apparently represented Portugal at the International Physics Olympiad in 1995, meaning the two men may have moved in the same circles. The engineering and physics connection seems of particular interest, since the Brown shooter targeted students in an engineering building, killing two.

Any other direct connection between the two men is unknown at this time.

Here's the full police press conference:

Police located Valente at a storage facility in New Hampshire, where he was apparently dead from eating his own bullet.

Many questions still remain, including why no cameras in the Brown engineering building caught footage of the suspect or the attack.
