Florida woman arrested for drowning her roommate's spider in ginger ale (I promise this really happened!)

Renae Rasmussen of Okaloosa County, Florida, was arrested for drowning her roommates spider. I'm not joking. This is a real story.

And before we get all judgmental about this heinous crime, I think we should remember the heart of our Lord in this matter.

Let the one who has not killed a spider, throw the first stone.

... No one?

Here's the very brief scoop:

An Okaloosa County woman was arrested Monday after she allegedly drowned her roommate's pet spider, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

I'll just say it: The fewer spiders there are in the world, the better.

Of course, there are some other details in the case that might be worth considering:

  1. It was her roommate's pet jumping spider

  2. This was a $70 spider.

  3. Rasmussen admitted to submerging the spider in ginger ale until it died.

Okay, that last point is a little psycho.

For using ginger ale as a deadly weapon, Rasmussen was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty and petty theft.

And now ginger ale will just never taste the same.
