She claimed that she was violently attacked by three men with guns who slashed her face and body before drawing political slurs on her.
According to federal prosecutors, however, two days before Greene paid a body modification artist $500 to carve violent wounds into her flesh with a scalpel.
The prosecutors allege that Greene and her accomplice gave conflicting accounts of what happened. They also found that the pair searched for 'zip ties near me' days prior
Greene worked for New Jersey Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew.
'While Natalie is no longer associated with the congressman's government office, our thoughts and prayers are with her and hope she's getting the care she needs,' his office said in a statement.
Greene is facing up to 10 years in prison.
She faces federal charges of conspiracy and making false statements to law enforcement.
Apparently, Greene, 26, and an unnamed co-conspirator staged the scene in the New Jersey Township of Egg Harbor to make it seem like she'd been attacked for her political beliefs. The co-conspirator then called 911.
From The Hill:
'They were attacking her,' they told the 911 operator. 'They were like talking about politics and stuff. They were like calling her names.'
'They were like calling her like racist, calling her a whore,' the co-conspirator added.
When police arrived they found Greene,
... on the ground, crying and yelling with her hands and feet tied together and her shirt pulled over her head. She had dozens of cuts on her body, including on her face and chest. Written across her body in black marker were two messages: 'Trump Whore' on her stomach and Van Drew 'is Racist' on her back.
The "attackers," Greene said, had called her by name and told her they had a gun and would kill her if she made any noise.
Would've been a crazy story if true. Unfortunately, it doesn't look good for Natalie Greene and her co-conspirator.
No word yet as to whether or not Greene had any Subway sandwiches on her at the time of the attack.
