Former dancers sue body-positive icon Lizzo, alleging she fat-shamed them, sexually harassed them

Uh oh you guys look at this. The queen of body positivity herself — the one we all envision when we think of obesity as a moral good — is in trouble for, yup, you guessed it: Fat shaming and sexual harassment.

Yes, we live in a world of idiocy and hypocrisy folks, and this is just the latest example.

Three of Lizzo's former dancers have accused the singer of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment in a lawsuit filed Tuesday. They also allege that she pressured one of them to touch a nude performer at an Amsterdam club and subjected the group to an "excruciating" audition after leveling false accusations that they were drinking on the job.

The dancers accused Lizzo — a performer known for embracing body positivity and celebrating her physique — of calling attention to one dancer's weight gain and later berating, then firing, that dancer after she recorded a meeting because of a health condition…

The suit names Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, her production company and Quigley as defendants. In addition to accusations of a hostile work environment and sexual harassment, the suit brings claims for religious and racial harassment, false imprisonment, interference with prospective economic advantage and other allegations.

Not good, Lizzo. Not good at all.

Man, here we were assuming fat was a good thing and that it gives you magical powers to play antique crystal flutes... But now the dream is ruined.

I'll never again look in the mirror at my beer gut and think, wow, I'm really moving up in this world, I could be somebody someday.

No, Lizzo, because of you and your hypocritical alleged fat-shaming I'll never look at myself the same again. And neither will these middleweight dancers of yours.

Okay sorry, back to the story:

"The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing," Zambrano said in a statement.

Ya think?!?

The suit accuses Lizzo of calling attention to the dancer's weight after an appearance at South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival. The singer and her choreographer later told the dancer, Arianna Davis, that she seemed "less committed" to her role — a comment the suit describes as a "thinly veiled" concern about Davis' weight.

There's some stuff in the article about a visit to a strip club in Amsterdam. I'm not gonna cover that here, but I will say the allegations of sexual harassment here by Lizzo are pretty strong.

Well, so much for the body positivity movement.

It seems even the fattest of the fat know that the best way to make sure your friends, family, and dancers don't pack on the pounds is to simply fat shame them.

And that is the moral of the story.

Nice work, Lizzo!
