Former NIH Director Francis Collins says "We weren't really considering the consequences" on the economy or education during the early days of Covid

Francis Collins, NIH Director in 2020 when Covid came onto the scene, spent a lot of time convincing church leaders that shutting down everything was Christ-like and those who disagreed were basically evil.

Three years later, he's singing a different tune.

Watch this clip from Braver Angels, an organization that wants us to lower our political temperature, that posted this 5 months ago (but most of us are just seeing for the first time):

As a guy living inside the Beltway, feeling the sense of crisis, trying to decide what to do in some situation room in the White House with people who had data that was incomplete … we weren't really considering the consequences in communities that were not New York City or some other big city ...

If you're a public health person, and you're trying to make a decision, you have this very narrow view of what the right decision is, and that is something that will save a life. Doesn't matter what else happens, so you attach infinite value to stopping the disease and saving a life. You attach zero value to whether this actually totally disrupts people's lives, ruins the economy, and has many kids kept out of school in a way that they never might quite recover from. Collateral damage.

We have an entire category on this site dedicated to the consequences of lockdowns. Physical health in America has plummeted since 2019, reading and math scores are near historic lows, hundreds of thousands of kids disappeared from the school system entirely, learning in poor communities has been set back two decades, and drug overdoses, suicide, and abuse jumped to record highs.

Hundreds of thousands of deaths were attributed directly to lockdowns and mandates themselves, not to the virus, and many of them among healthy, productive members of society. One million cases of cancer were missed in Europe alone due to canceled appointments.

All this for a disease that killed a tiny fraction of a fraction of the population. The lockdowns themselves, according to an official study, only reduced Covid deaths by 0.2%.

This is a public health mindset. And I think a lot of us involved in trying to make those recommendations had that mindset — and that was really unfortunate, it's another mistake we made.

I mean, millions of us pointed that out, but we got censored, banned, and investigated by the FBI for our trouble.

And yeah, Francis, I'm sure the reason you recommended shutting down the entire country is because you're a saint, and not because of the influence Big Pharma has on our government.

Let me remind you of who Francis Collins is:

As it is always with cults, we'll never know whether Francis was "in on it" or simply playing his part like a good little follower of Fauciism. But I'm guessing he knew what he was doing.
