Like, how is this even legal?
The judge in Trump's New York case just instructed the jury that they can convict without a unanimous ruling. As long as they can get 12 guilty votes total, out of the 30+ vague charges, they can declare him guilty.
Honestly, I'm no lawyer, but I've never heard ANYTHING like this in my life.
They've charged him with multiple crimes, and the judge is telling the jury that all they have to do is get 12 votes total and they can declare him guilty. They don't have to be unanimous on ANY of the charges.
There's no 12th angry man to stand in the way. If they want Trump in jail, he's going to jail.
Jonathan Turley also reported the same for Fox:
Jonathan Turley inside court: Judge delivers coup de grace instruction to jurors
Merchan just delivered the coup de grace instruction. He said that there is no need to agree on what occurred. They can disagree on what the crime was among the three choices. Thus, this means that they could split 4-4-4 and he will still treat them as unanimous ...

Coup de grace is exactly the right term for this.
It would be an insult to kangaroos to call this a kangaroo court.
Absolutely disgraceful.
