This is one of my favorite stories ever.

Yup, these squatters show up every year in Hautes-Vosges, France, and each time the farmers are left hanging by local authorities who simply allow these people -- hundreds of them -- to camp there illegally on their animals' grazing field.
As you can see, this year went a bit differently.
And the results are in.
From the Sun:
The farmers told The Sun that a judge today ordered up to 500 members of a 'travelling community of gypsies' to evict the encampment.

According to one of the farmers,
The travellers were told to move out within 24 hours, or else face police intervention and fines.
Around 500 of them, travelling in about 200 caravans, all left.
Usually, they say that farm smell is the smell of money, but today in France it's the smell of sweet, sweet victory.

Nothing new for French farmers, who in 2023 spread manure all over government buildings in Quimper to protest taxes in the farm sector.
