Mustard-flavored donuts are becoming a thing because what the world needs are more stupid ideas 🤮

As if mustard itself is not bad enough, French's mustard is teaming up with New York bakery Dough Doughnuts to create this new frankenfood - the mustard doughnut.

The doughnut will be topped with "a yellow mustard icing and a cake crumb topping."

I cannot think of anything less appetizing.

One of the owners of Dough, Steve Klein, said that the product wasn't easy to create, but they're excited about what they've come up with in partnership with French's.

"We take a lot of pride in our doughnuts and we don't put something out that doesn't taste good, look good or matches what the customer wants. So we put a lot of effort into it," he said. "We did a bunch of tastings and created a product we all liked with our brioche dough, adding the mustard to our glaze and came up with a product that looks and tastes excellent."

The bizarre food creation will be available for National Mustard Day, which is on August 6th.

I'd rather not celebrate this holiday at all, but if I were forced to, I think I would opt for something a little less puke-inducing, like a corndog.

It was just a few months ago that French's released these ketchup popsicles...

And at this point, it's beginning to seem like their marketing team just has one idea, and they're planning to recycle it until they've gone through all the sweet treats. What's next?

Pickle relish pie?

Fried onion pudding?

Can we please be done with the frankenfoods for a while? I liked it back when we had yummy food hybrids like cronuts and brookies.
