Do you remember this horrific story that broke at the beginning of last year?
German police say 23-year-old Sharaban K. used Instagram to find a woman that looked like her, then stabbed that women 50 times in August 2022 and dumped her body in her own car to fake her own death due to some family squabbles.
Well, we're pleased to report that the scumbags responsible for this horrific crime will never see the sky again except through a set of bars:
A 25 year-old woman and a 26 year-old man were sentenced to life in prison in a German court on Thursday for the murder of the woman's lookalike in a scheme to faker her death.
According to the court, the Iraqi-German woman, named only as Shahraban K, wanted to go into hiding due to family conflicts and fake her own death. She went onto social media to search for a doppelganger and arranged to meet a 23 year-old woman, whom she then killed with the help of an acquaintance.
Here's another photo of the two women side-by-side:
The victim was "sounded out on social media in August 2022," after which she was lured to a wooded area and "stabbed ... 56 times."
The killer "originated from a Yazidi community in northern Iraq and may have been motivated to fake her own death after her marriage broke down."
The court this week, meanwhile, "ruled the crime to be particularly serious, which makes it unlikely that the sentence will be suspended after 15 years -- a common occurrence in Germany."
(Maybe not such a great policy, Germany!)
You won't be surprised to learn, meanwhile, that German judges are just as short-spoken and understated as the rest of the German people:
Handing down the sentence on Thursday, the presiding judge in the city of Ingolstadt described the murder as a 'disturbing act'.
Yeah it's a bit more than that, Your Honor. Thankfully, the sentence reflects it.
