It turns out that Mickey Mouse was no match for an experienced MMA fighter, as actress Gina Carano announced on Thursday that she and Disney had "reached an agreement" to end her discrimination lawsuit against the media giant that resulted from her 2021 firing from The Mandalorian.
Make no mistake, this "agreement" was a resounding victory for Carano, complete with an almost groveling statement released by Disney:
The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.
Translation: "We screwed up and we're really, really sorry. We're settling this lawsuit to avoid getting absolutely thrashed in court. Please accept our apology and work with us in the future."
Disney had attempted to have the case dismissed over a year ago, to no avail, as we previously reported here:
Carano, who was assisted in the legal matter by Elon Musk, now looks to the future, after spending the last several years standing up for the truth:
Indeed it does, Gina. Indeed it does.
