Did they delete the original tweet? Of course they did.
Before we go further, a quick review: The Girl Scouts of the USA is a scouting group for girls. In the USA.
Thought it was important to clear that up.
The offending tweet? The statement that was so nakedly partisan that it exposed the Girl Scouts of America as an extremist right-wing pro-life group probably allied with Q Anon and the Proud Boys.
As far as many commenters were concerned, that might as well have been a Trump ad.
"This is not an appointment to celebrate for women. She does not support women's rights at all."
Keep in mind we're talking about a successful college-educated woman who is at the top of her career while raising seven children.
"Amy Coney Barrett does not represent what I always thought the girl scouts stood for."
This, from the Girl Scouts web site.
"Girl Scouts of the USA is proud of its 100-year relationship with the Catholic Church and is pleased that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has on its website the following resources: Questions and Answers About Girl Scouts of the USA and About Catholic Scouting; Background on Girl Scouts of the USA and USCCB Conversations."
Maybe she's talking about a different Girl Scouts of the USA. You know, the one that advocates for LGBTQ rights and Obamacare.
Having just taken down a tweet at the behest of partisan political forces, the Girl Scouts thought it important to point out how non-partisan they were.
"Girl Scouts of the USA is a nonpolitical, nonpartisan organization. We are neither red nor blue, but Girl Scout GREEN. We are here to lift up girls and women."
Well, not all women, just women who don't offend Planned Parenthood.
Here is a tweet from last year that celebrated the accomplishments of the other four women who have been Supreme Court justices that is somehow still up.
That's weird.
Other commenters pointed out the irony of an organization that believes in empowering women and routinely advocates bullying prevention caved in so quickly to bullies.
Mindy Robinson, a conservative political activist who tends not to hold back tweeted:
"You spineless weasels. You're supposed to empower and represent strong women and girls...and you caved into a Twitter mob of perpetually unhappy miserable leftists? Watch me never buy a box of your overpriced, dry a** cookies again."
For the record, I will always gladly pay too much for a box of dry Thin Mints.
Sorry, but I'm just not that strong.
Also, I need to make these.
