Gov. Kathy Hochul is focusing on the needs of New Yorkers... by making it illegal for utility companies to misgender customers

When I think of the problems facing New York, I think of the rampant crime, discriminatory vax passports, and dying businesses of NYC.

I think of the $150 BILLION state debt and the lack of police, firefighters, and sanitation workers. I think about ballooning inflation, needles on the streets, homelessness, droves of people fleeing the state, skyrocketing homicide rates, and so much more.

Newly-minted Gov. Kathy Hochul, however, thinks the most urgent need of New Yorkers is to stop the "trauma" of being "misgendered" on the phone with the electric company.

Yes, this is "common sense" legislation. Not only are you destroying the First Amendment by compelling speech, but you're ignoring a million other problems your state is experiencing as it reels from lockdowns, corruption, and the scandal surrounding your former boss, Andrew Cuomo.

More from The Post Millennial:

On Tuesday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed LGBTQ+ "protection bills" to commemorate transgender awareness week. But the one forcing companies to use preferred pronouns for customers is getting the most attention.

The press release is two-fold, as there's another piece of legislation signed related to vacating convictions for offenses committed by sex trafficking victims. But the highlight of the Governor's office has been "Legislation S.5325/A.6193." It's a law that demands utility companies allow customers to use what preferred name and pronoun they want.

"Utilities would be prohibited from willfully and repeatedly failing to use a customer's preferred name and/or pronouns after being informed pursuant to this new section of law." the newly passed bill stipulates.

How does this work? Is the gas company going to have to ask for your pronouns and name every time you call? That should make the customer service experience so much more fun.

Showing "love, respect, and dignity to all" requires upholding the inalienable right of individuals to free speech, and respecting the clear lanes of authority given to government to protect people from actual threats.

Sorry to all you New Yorkers who have been assaulted, robbed, and injured, but Queen Kathy Hochul doesn't have time for you little people and your stab wounds, broken bones, empty bank accounts, and dead loved ones!
