Greek man found guilty of sneaking into neighbors' homes to sniff shoes

Honestly, this guy is probably the least of our worries when it comes to break-ins.

A 28-year-old in northern Greece has been convicted and handed a suspended one-month prison sentence for repeatedly sneaking into his neighbors' properties just to smell their shoes.

Sure, that's a super weird thing to do, definitely. BUT let's be honest, it could have been a lot worse!

This poor weirdo admitted he couldn't explain why he kept doing it and said the whole situation had left him feeling deeply embarrassed. He emphasized that he never meant any harm and had no intention of breaking the law.

What's sort of sweet is that his neighbors backed him up.

Some testified that while his late-night shoe-sniffing was weird, he never showed any signs of aggression.

The man was arrested early in the morning on October 8 in Sindos, a small town just outside Thessaloniki. Enough was enough when a neighbor called the police after catching him in the act, sniffing a collection of shoes left outside to air out.

Although folks took pity on the guy and even asked his family to intervene, the neighborhood was tired of his odd behavior. The court was told there had been at least three similar incidents in the past six months.

As part of his sentence, the man has been ordered to attend therapy sessions.
