A very happy Columbus Day to you all!
I can hear the woke mob foaming at the mouth as I write this, and I feel for them. There's no way they could ever achieve a fraction of what Columbus did with three ships in 1492. All they have are their little keyboards on their iPhones mass produced in China. They have no idea what actual leadership, innovation, or adventure looks like.
Because I experienced the joys of public school indoctrination, I too learned that Christopher Columbus was a misogynistic evil conqueror who raped and pillaged the islands of the noble, peaceful Caribbean peoples (who lived in Disney-movie-like tranquility before mean white men showed up with their magic firesticks).
Then, unlike most of the wokies, I grew up and learned a thing or two about history, including Columbus himself. I've stood under his statue pointing out to sea in Barcelona. I've learned about his flaws and read about his faith in his own words.
When I consider my own brokenness and faults, then realize what Columbus managed to achieve in the political divisiveness and technological level of the Medieval world, I stand in awe. Not because he was perfect, but because he rose to a level of greatness that few of us will ever achieve in spite of his many shortcomings.
So happy Columbus Day to you all.
