We've been tracking Harley-Davidson's unfortunate lurch into woke DEI policies for a while now:
Company CEO Jochen Zeitz basically admitted that's why he took the job:
As diverse as we could possible [sic] be as a brand and a business, and celebrate diversity and inclusion … That's one of the reasons why I took the job because I believe in an incredible American icon and the transformation and the opportunity to contribute positively to a very divisive society.
Yeah, because when you ride a Harley, you're thinking about diVeRsiTy and iNCLuSioN.
The company got the good old-fashioned Bud Light treatment earlier this month:
This wasn't just some social media boycott. The Harley riders revolted big time. These are dudes who don't touch anything woke with a 10 foot pole. Red-blooded Americans who eat nails for breakfast.
Now, after a brief but effective campaign, the company has elected to get the ever-loving heck out of the DEI industry:
Some highlights:
[W]e have not operated a DEl function since April 2024, and we do not have a DEl function today. We do not have hiring quotas and we no longer have supplier diversity spend goals.
[M]oving forward we will be providing executive management to each group to exclusively focus on professional development, networking and mentoring.
Harley-Davidson will not participate in [Human Rights Campaign] scoring going forward.
You love to see it.
Chris Rufo, meanwhile, has a valuable reminder for us all:
You did the right thing, Harley-Davidson. Well done.
