Harrison Butker defends remarks following commencement speech cOnTrOvErSy: "Glorifying God and not ourselves should always remain our motivation"

It's always a pleasant surprise when we get to use the phrase "devout Catholic" unironically on this site.

Friday night, Harrison Butker addressed a group of Catholics at the Courage Under Fire gala, a fundraiser for Regina Caeli Academy, a Catholic homeschool-hybrid education group where Butker sits on the board of directors.

In his speech, he references his recent "controversy" where he said Catholic things at a Catholic school.

And he doesn't back down one inch.

Butker makes clear that he wants to honor God, live out his faith even in the face of hatred, and be an encouragement to other Catholics and Christians as they face coercion and pressure from the culture.

He didn't back down. He doubled down.

The event was organized by Alissa Walsh, wife of Daily Wire host Matt Walsh. In addition to Butker, the providentially named "Courage Under Fire" event featured Matt Walsh, pro-life advocate Dr. Abby Johnson, and others.

Thank God for brave Christians unafraid of cultural consequences for speaking the truth.
