Here's a sneak peak at Facebook's metaverse ... We are living in The Matrix now

Video games are cool, Mark, but your obsession with replacing God's universe with a digital universe of your own (where you reign as god king over all of us) is a little weird.

"I thought I was supposed to be the robot."

Har har, Mark. You're not fooling anyone.

Again, I'm all for cool tech. I'm a fan of videogames and the medium they are for art, storytelling, and social adventure.

But this... this is a different story.

This isn't some casual startup that wants to create a digital space for you to play virtual poker with your friends.

This is a massive social giant that has spent the last year cracking down on free speech through "fact-checking" and suppressing "disinformation" – one that is hyper partisan and makes revenue by selling your data to advertisers. One that has suppressed the negative mental effects its had on people around the world.

As one of my esteemed colleagues said:

I love the fiction that this is going to be some chummy, idealistic community-world rather than a poisonous den of sick pornography, violent fantasies, and crippling escapism.

Facebook has a vested interest in making money and keeping you focused on their narrative by keeping you plugged into the Matrix all hours of the day.

Sorry but not sorry, Mark. I'm not coming near this with a 10-foot virtual pole!
