Four-year-old Lyla Leathem had been told what to do if her mom, who suffers from epilepsy, had a seizure, but she recently had to put that knowledge into action when her mom collapsed at their home in England.
She first attempted to call her great-grandmother from her mother's phone, but when she was unable to unlock it, the 4-year-old quickly ran upstairs to her mom's bedroom and asked the family's Alexa device to make the phone call.
Lyla's 'Nana' answered the call, telling the 4-year-old,
Go to Mummy and stroke her hair and tell her it's all going to be ok. I'm on my way.
The great-grandmother said she was impressed by the young girl's quick thinking to leave her mother's side in order to make the call from the Alexa device, telling SWNS,
I'm so proud of her. That must have been such a difficult decision for a four-year-old.
Lyla's Nana rewarded the four-year-old with a certificate and trophy, and the little girls bravery even earned her a spot in the local newspaper.
Lyla's mother Leah is also grateful for her daughter's calm response to the medical emergency, saying,
I've been carrying around the newspaper from the County Gazette showing everyone I bump into about how amazing my little Lyla is.
