People may have figured World War 3 could be on the horizon, but did anyone have India and Pakistan on their Bingo cards as the potential starting point? The odds of that becoming a reality have ticked up slightly, as the two Asian nations have now begun engaging in open conflict.

The two nations, which have been at war off and on since 1947, have begun trading strikes on the largest scale in over two decades, with both sides blaming the other for the increase in hostilities.

India said it struck infrastructure used by militants linked to last month's massacre of tourists in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir.

At least three civilians were also killed in Indian-controlled Kashmir by Pakistani shelling, the Indian army said in a statement.

Tensions have soared between the nuclear-armed neighbors since the attack, which India has blamed Pakistan for backing. Islamabad has denied the accusation.

According to The Washington Times, eight Pakistanis were killed by Indian missiles, including a child.

Here are a few reported photos from the Indian towns of Mendhar, Poonch, and Bhimber Gali, where Pakistani forces had dropped munitions.

Pakistan's defense minister said his nation had shot down five Indian planes, according to Bloomberg. Meanwhile, a video circulating on X purportedly showed a Pakistani JF-17 fighter jet being shot down by India.

This next video reportedly shows a Pakistani pilot's ejector seat that landed in a field (some speculate that it is from a Dassault Mirage 5 jet used by Pakistani forces):

Other photos reportedly show the ejector seats of downed Indian aircraft.

Pakistan's information minister vented his anger toward India on British channel Sky News, highlighting the tension between the two countries.
