Hotels in Venice are now arming guests with water pistols to ward off seagulls

Here's something you don't see everyday.

An interesting solution.

One I can totally get on board with!

Yeah, apparently the seagull problem in Venice, Italy is so bad that people have to guard their food with their lives. And all it takes is an orange squirt gun.

Why orange? Rumor has it, the gulls absolutely hate the color orange. They just hate it.

"They really work, they're also colored orange, which those birds don't like," Paolo Lorenzoni , director of the historic Gritti Hotel near the Grand Canal, told ANSA.

He said the birds are already learning to avoid anyone brandishing a water gun.

"As soon as they see the pistols, they fly away," he said. "You don't even need to use them, you just need to keep them on the table."

Yeah, apparently this little trick is working out pretty well.

And I'm all for it.

Nothing says "vacation" more than blasting a hungry annoying seagull in the face with a water pistol that my hotel just randomly gave me at the counter when I checked in. Like, absolute adventure of a lifetime!

So next time you hit the beach, I want you to constitutional carry yourself an orange water pistol onto that beach and blast yourself a few seagulls.

At worst, it'll make you feel like you're on vacation in Italy.
