The Addams Family is a nearly century-old media series that spans comics, books, live-action movies, animated television shows, video games, what-have-you. It's absolutely been used, reused and recycled to its absolute limits. There are really no more Addams Family stories to tell.
So of course Netflix is doing this:
Looks like total trash โ thematically dark, aesthetically vibrant, sardonic, faux-intellectual, almost certainly very woke, just every garbage television convention rolled up into one.
You know what's a great Addams Family feature? "Addams Family Values" from 1993. It has a fantastic cast, great jokes, a believable plot, it doesn't take itself too seriously. The grotto tango scene along is among the most entertaining dance sequences in recent film history:
You can't put a price on watching Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston do a flamenco so good that it literally sets the floor on fire. That's golden stuff.
But I'm sure we'll all have fun watching Wednesday Addams dump a bunch of piranha in a swimming pool or whatever. Can't wait.
