Remember last Fourth of July when the White House was so proud of saving you 16 cents? Yeah, so do I...
Well, I hope in the last year you've found a way to turn that 16 cents into $12 because that's how much more your food will cost this year, according to the Consumer Price Index compiled by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Yep, that's a 17 percent increase in just one year. Even if it had only been an increase of 17 cents we'd still be in worse shape than we were in 2020, so there's that.
But don't worry, Biden has a plan to help out with these increased prices on literally everything by saving you 18 cents at the gas pump by suspending the federal gas tax. That's the tax you pay on your gasoline that already costs at least twice as much as it did last year, so hopefully, you don't have to drive to get to your cookout.
And it's a good thing too because that $0.18 is just enough to pay for the increase in the price of a bottle of Coke for your cookout. No more serving only water at your holiday gatherings!
