ICYMI: Louisiana Republicans easily took control of the governor's house in a race the "experts" thought would be tight
· Oct 16, 2023 · NottheBee.com

After 8 years of Democrat control under "moderate" Democrat John Bel Edwards, Republicans in Louisiana have taken back the governor's mansion over the weekend, electing Jeff Landry on Saturday.

Landry won the election with more than 50% of the vote, meaning that there will be no runoff election, even though the "experts" all predicted a tighter race (Louisiana does not have a normal primary system).

Look at this landslide and chalk up another L for the expert class:

Louisiana's election of Landry also means that EVERY state in the Deep South is now officially headed by a Republican executive.

Speaking of the Deep South, I'll leave Landry's acceptance speech here from Saturday so you can enjoy a REAL Cajun accent from a true Louisiana native.

Landry has been serving as the attorney general in Louisiana and has clashed with the incumbent Democrat governor. As AG, Landry has made efforts as the chief law enforcer to remove LGBT pornography and indoctrinating books from schools and effectively banned the "gender-affirming" butchery of minors in Louisiana.

Oh, and did we mention he had the Trump seal of approval?

During the gubernatorial election season, Landry had long been considered the early frontrunner, winning the endorsement of high profile Republicans — Trump and U.S. Rep Steve Scalise — and a controversial early endorsement from the state GOP. In addition, Landry has enjoyed a sizable fundraising advantage over the rest of the field throughout the race.

While as AG, Landry focused on protecting kids, funding law enforcement, and cracking down on crime. This was his primary pitch when running for election.

Looks like the state of Louisiana is transitioning from a "conservative Democrat" state to a true conservative state! ✊
