Harjinder Singh was supposed to be deported six years ago.
The man illegally came to America in 2018, was fast-tracked to deport in 2019, but told the courts he was afraid to go home. So they let him stay.
Harjinder Singh crossed the southern border into California in September 2018 and was processed for fast-track deportation by the first Trump administration, Fox News reported.
But after claiming fear of being sent back to India to US Citizenship and Immigration Services, Singh was released on a $5,000 immigration bond in January 2019 and has remained in proceedings ever since.
Just a bang up job by US immigration.
$5,000 and a future court date (if we ever get around to it).
And California will give you a commercial driver's license while you wait! Try not to kill anyone!
The Trump admin clarified that Singh is in good health, is unmarried, has no children, is not a victim of violence or human trafficking, and is not a caretaker for any sick relatives. There was also no religious or other ideological reason given for why Singh should fear persecution if he returned home.
It appears as if the U.S. court system simply allowed him to say whatever he wanted to stay in the country.
The Department of Homeland Security has now classified Singh as "a significant threat to public safety" and is moving "to place Singh in removal proceedings" in addition to felony charges of three counts of vehicular homicide.
