This guy came within a millisecond of losing life or limb and he didn't even realize it:
The video was reportedly taken by Katie Allyson Thomson around the Splash Resort in Panama City Beach last week.
A separate TikTok video by a man named Connor Seitz caught a different angle of the encounter. The man said he had seen the hammerhead circling swimmers, including two women, when he decided to launch his drone.
Here's a still from this angle, just a the moment after the shark charged and swerved:
Some people pointed out that hammerheads are often hunting for stingrays (their favorite food) in the area, and that it likely veered away because it realized that guy's legs weren't, in fact, its preferred meal.
Regardless, I don't think you should take the chance of mistaken identity when it comes to a 300-pound carnivore charging you at 30 mph in shallow water!
