A trucker for a company called "Sandhu," a common Punjabi name in India among Sikhs, killed three people in Ontario, California, after barreling into a line of stopped traffic.
The 21-year-old driver was reportedly on drugs at the time of the crash.
[Warning: Graphic]
The reason we have to emphasize that this man was driving for a company with a Punjabi logo is because California authorities won't release any details about the man.
The eagle-eyes may have noticed that the truck has a Khanda, a Sikh religious symbol, hanging from the rearview mirror.
Why don't authorities want to release a booking photo?
Unfortunately, this does not help narrow down which Indian Punjabi trucking company is at fault. There are multiple trucking companies run by Sikh immigrants in California, including "Sandhu Trucking Services" and "Sandhu Truckline, Inc."
That's not even to mention all the trucking companies called "Sandhu" in other states!
In August, an Indian Sikh was charged with killing three people on a Florida highway white making an illegal U-turn. He has registered with a commercial trucker's license out of California.
In October, multiple Indian truckers were federally charged with cargo fraud.
And in August, a group of Indian men was arrested for operating a horrific sex trafficking operation out of Nebraska hotels.
According to the Asian American Education Project, 20% of the nation's drivers are now Sikhs. CBS News reported that more than 30,000 Sikhs entered the trucking industry between 2016 and 2018 alone. The Sikh Coalition says more than 150,000 Sikhs driving commercial trucks on American roads and Sikhs own more than 12,000 trucking companies.
The driver in this deadly crash lives in Yuba City, California, and survived with relatively minor injuries. His victims were not as lucky.
From ABC 7:
Eyewitness News learned one of the victims was identified as a 54-year-old man from Upland. His name hasn't been released. The remaining two were severely burned in the crash and have not been identified.
Four additional people went to the hospital as a result of this driver failing to stop for traffic.
The incident comes just days after U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy highlighted a video of a migrant driving a truck down the wrong side of a freeway ... in the dark.
California is reportedly working against the Trump administration, which is requiring officers to administer English-comprehension tests in order to ensure drivers understand basic road signs.
According to one California DOT officer, they are being specifically instructed to ignore this mandate.
Watch out for those trucks from California...
