Earlier this year we reported on an "I Voted" sticker design contest in New York State, where the frontrunner at the time was a ghoulish, frightening human-spider monstrosity:
Well, election week is finally here, and guess what — the spider is actually on the county's freakin' voter stickers!
[Elections inspector Parrish Bowman] said many were excited about getting the stickers featuring a spider created by the 14-year-old Marbletown teen for an Ulster County "I Voted contest" that collected more than 228,000 votes by the time it wrapped up in July. ...
Amongst voters, there was much excitement about the stickers and early voting.
"I like the convenience of early voting," Carol Countryman, a retired teacher from Lake Katrine said as she proudly displayed her "I voted sticker."
Larry Grenadier of Kingston said voting is very important and he's glad that it makes it more convenient for people to get to the polls.
He admitted he was also excited to get one of the stickers.
"I think it's a great idea, these are highly coveted," he said.
Nothing more much to joke about here, just a deep and gratifying sense of appreciation for this, the greatest country on Earth.
