Jane Fonda literally just said "COVID is God's gift to the Left"

Today in balloonhead news, we bring you Hollywood actress and socialite Jane Fonda, who is apparently praising God for allowing the 'Rona to spread across the earth.

Why would Fonda, also known as "Hanoi Jane" for her fraternization with the communist North Vietnamese in 1972, celebrate a virus that has (allegedly) killed over a million people worldwide and led to the starvation and ruin of millions more due to imposed government lockdowns?

According to Fonda, it's the fact that it's created an "existential crossroad" that will allow people like her "to help determine which way humanity goes." Here's the full video clip for some context:

"We can stop fascism," she says. "We are at a point where we can – this is a crossroads, it's an existential crossroads – and we are a people who can help determine which way humanity goes. What a great gift. What a tremendous opportunity. We're just so lucky. We have to use it with every ounce of intelligence and courage and wherewithal we have, because you're absolutely right. This is it. This is it, and you know, I just think COVID is God's gift to the Left."

Fonda then pauses and adds with a nervous chuckle, "That's a terrible thing to say."

She isn't the first person to call COVID a "tremendous opportunity." No, that honor goes to Democratic Rep. James Clyburn from South Carolina, who used the same phrase to describe the pandemic in March when talking about his party's vision for the future.

I don't need to elaborate on the utter asininity or moral depravity on display here. Any person with a functioning prefrontal cortex and a moral compass north of Satan can see the sheer malevolence at work in Fonda's mindset.

I do agree with Fonda on one thing, however: we are at a crossroads of worldviews. Fonda espouses a desire to "determine which way humanity goes." To anyone unfamiliar with any history of the 20th-century, her words bring up memories of other ideals for a "new" humanity, as expressed by the Soviet Union. As Soviet leader Leon Trotsky said many moons ago:

"Man will make it his purpose to master his own feelings, to raise his instincts to the heights of consciousness, to make them transparent, to extend the wires of his will into hidden recesses, and thereby to raise himself to a new plane, to create a higher social biologic type, or, if you please, a superman."

The theme of a new humanity is an archetype throughout Communist propaganda. It was their goal to overcome man's ignorance and shortcomings and progress him into something more – to erase his sin and make him a god, if you will.

The result was the largest loss of human life and the greatest extents of human suffering in all of history, save perhaps the annual genocide of the unborn. Over 100 million people died in the pursuit of this "new" humanity.

One other thing to note. Fonda isn't just a random Hollywood celebrity spouting crazy things. After all, that's a regular occurrence. No, Fonda has been overwhelmingly vocal about support for the Biden campaign. Last month, Fonda appeared alongside vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris at a virtual event held by a Leftist group called Supermajority. Fonda also held an all-star "Exercise That Vote" video alongside Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Ken Jeong, Amy Schumer, and Shaq this month.

There are indeed two visions for humanity before us. One, as Fonda and Marx might argue, is a utopia of our own making. That experiment has proven to be disastrous. The other, as C.S. Lewis might say, is "a change from being creatures of God to being sons of God," in which our nature is fundamentally changed from self-centered and corrupt to life-giving.

The latter view, laid out beautifully by the Apostle Paul in Romans 5, has also been historically demonstrated. It has created to a foundation of inherent rights, liberty, and love for God and one's neighbor that has led to unparalleled human flourishing, raising billions out of poverty and disease.

"COVID is God's gift to the Left."

What a balloonhead.
