It's been a long time since we've had a politician, left or right, who wasn't simply a spewer of platitudes but an explainer of policy.
Watch:
This is maybe the scariest statistic of the last few years, America just last year became a net importer of food. What that means is that we grow less food than our people consume, which makes us rely on other people for the very food that we feed our children.
Did you know this? That's insane - America is relying on imported food when we have vast tracts of top-tier farmland??
Part of the reason is because we've made it so hard on our farmers ... Between natural gas prices ... between diesel costs, between gasoline costs, the cost of energy has made it really really hard for our farmers to do what they do ...
We've gotta make sure that foreign competitors aren't flooding our markets with cheap agricultural products that destroy the wages and the livelihoods of farmers. It makes us more reliant on countries who don't like us.
Are the Democrats out here trying to revitalize and grow the country and provide for our farmers?
If we're worried about manufactured goods (as we were during Covid) how much worse is it to rely on other countries for the very food that we provide to our families. We've gotta go in the other direction and cut down agricultural dumping ...
Kamala Harris has really criticized the idea of using tariffs, President Trump has said ... that unless you're willing to use tariffs to go after countries that are manipulating our own markets ... you're gonna be giving up on American productive workers.
No "middle-class family" deflection. No hemming and hawing or awkward laughs. No BS.
It's nice to see straightforward policy answers to questions for a change!
