Yep, this really happened:

Wicked slice. That ball was 100% going in the drink, and that fan 100% saved it.

Commentators said that Spieth's ball drilled the poor fellow in the knee and then executed a "90-degree redirect" ... and it ended up perfectly positioned in the fairway.

What happened next? Spieth chipped in for eagle and made the cut, of course!

"I got an extremely lucky break on No. 9, or I wouldn't be playing the weekend," Spieth told reporters following his round. "So trying to get that guy's information and see literally whatever he wants this weekend because everything from here on out is because it hit him."
