The judge in the Trump documents case announced that he has set a date for the trial.
August 14th.
Here's the reaction from the Fox News room this morning, right after Trump appeared on the network the night before:
If Trump and his team want to file pre-trial motions and try to move the date back they have less than a month to do so.
Talk about a speedy trial!
Steve Deace asks an important question about the date:
It's almost as if this is scheduled so that it will interrupt Trump's opportunity to make his case to the country on the national debate stage.
It almost seems as if it's designed to keep Trump busy in court, possibly gagged, while the debates are happening.
If that's the plan, I expect it to backfire.
We'll see if Trump and his team are able to push the date back.
