Kamala calls for ban on price-gouging, or, put another way, communist price controls
· Aug 15, 2024 · NottheBee.com

You guys, look at this wonderfully-written headline from The Hill and tell me if you think it can be rewritten to be more accurate.

"Price-gouging."

You mean like a free market where people attempt to make maximum profit based on what people are willing to pay?

Here's the best answer I've received so far on that alternate headline:

"Kamala Harris to call for communist price controls."

Wow, that's way more concise than, "federal ban on price-gouging."

Great job! A+ work!

Okay, I gotta at least quote The Hill here:

The Harris campaign said the vice president will outline a plan for her first 100 days in office if elected that would lay out a federal ban on price gouging, making clear that large companies can't exploit consumers to increase profits.

She will call for the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general to investigate corporations that break such rules, and she will push for increased support for small businesses that can break into the market and compete against major meat processors.

Wait a minute, I thought progressives wanted meat prices to be high?

As for this "corporate price-gouging": Are we expecting corporations not to raise prices to keep up with inflation, taxes, and tight regulation? Because if you can't adjust and make these "record profits," which wouldn't exist if not for inflation, then this amounts to nothing more than communist price controls.

They tried this in the thirties, and it did nothing but prolong the Great Depression and put the little guys out of business.

And if there's one thing we know about the modern corporate-state alliance, it's that they love nothing more than to crush mom and pop.
