So this lady right here tried to have her ex-husband killed and it did not go well for her:
Wendy Wein could spend up to 9 years in prison for this, and let me explain to you what happened because it's pretty embarrassing.
First off, she wanted her ex-husband killed. Not sure why. And hey, maybe he's a terrible person, who knows… but she wanted him killed.
So she hits up this website, something like RentAHitman.com—super easy.
It's going pretty well for her at this point—I mean she found a site that specializes in assassinating people, which is precisely her plan. Wein is sure her ex will be dead in no time, so she enters all of her personal information on the order form for her ex-husband's murder and clicks submit.
Well, the website was actually a cybersecurity test site and didn't actually offer assassinations. Turns out it's not that easy to find an assassin on the internet. Sad.
The website's owner contacted Michigan State Police, who contacted Wein posing as someone from the website.
OOPS!!!
I bet Michigan State Police really enjoyed this:
An undercover detective met with Wein at a cafe, where she said she wanted to have her ex murdered. She gave the detective his home address, work address, and work schedule.
She also said she would pay $5,000 for the murder. At a second meeting that same day, she gave the detective $200 as a downpayment.
On Friday, Wein pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder and using a computer to commit a crime.
Moral of the story: Don't be an idiot.
Oh, and don't murder people, either!
