I live in Michigan. I have followed my state's requirements in order to legally carry a concealed gun.
My lawmakers now want me to choose between being a criminal or protecting my wife and children.

One of the bills also featured a proposed change in law that would have barred those licensed to carry concealed weapons from having their firearms inside churches, sports arenas, hospitals and businesses licensed through the state's liquor control code.
A similar bill bans concealed weapons in several congressional buildings in the state capitol, Lansing.
Michigan Democrats have spent the last two years in control of the executive and legislative branches. They have already expanded "red flag" and safe storage laws, in addition to new requirements for those buying a pistol without a concealed carry license (CPL).
Now that they are poised to lose total control, they are running a myriad of Hail Marys through the state legislature.
Residents who have a license have spent the time to attend a full day of training at their own expense, in addition to the state's licensing fee, and are exemplary citizens without criminal records. In 2023 alone, the state issued more than 150,000 licenses, which provided the government with over $10 million in annual revenue.
Banning them from protecting their loved ones in most public places by shoehorning in a technically based on the availability of alcohol is despicable and underhanded.
Bad guys do not follow the laws. Those with CPLs are the ones who are trying to follow the government's rules in order to be protectors and providers in their communities.
Outrage following the announcement of this legislation led to a supposed retraction by lawmakers:
