Larry David attacks Elmo on “Today”: “Elmo was, he was going on about mental health … I throttled him! I couldn't take it!"

Remember when Elmo's tweet checking up on people went viral with all the insane responses?

Well, the folks over at Sesame Street decided that Elmo should continue his mental health spiel on Today.

And it was every bit as painful as you can imagine, like an annoying, woke, high-pitched Mr. Rogers with bad-grammar.

And you don't have to take my word for it.

And Elmo's dad just stood there and let it happen!

Was this just another example of someone with a mental health crisis responding to Elmo's call for more awareness?

Or was it something deeper.

Luckily, we don't have to wonder. Larry David went on Late Night with Seth Meyer the same day and explained what happened.

Yeah, yeah. I did it.
Elmo was, [Elmo voice] he was going on about mental health and I had to listen to every word. And I was going, 'Oh my G--, oh my G--, I don't think I can take another second of this!' And so I got off my chair and I approached him and I throttled him!
I couldn't take it!
And you know what? I would do it again!

Just when I thought I couldn't love Larry David more than I already did.

I love Jim Henson and I love the Muppets, but nobody wants to hear Elmo and his dad drone on about mental health for 10 minutes.

I don't blame Larry at all for what he did.

I mean, we all wanted to do it.
