Law student faces expulsion for "aggressive pointing," "misgendering" trans activist

Pace University has received a legal letter from The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) demanding they stop their investigation into a law student who "misgendered" a fellow student.

Here's how the story first broke in November:

On Oct. 15, the Federalist Society held a "Save Women's Sports" event at the school that discussed the unfair treatment of female athletes who are forced to compete with biological men.

Student Houston Porter was at the event when a bunch of trans activists started screaming, throwing the entire thing into chaos.

'Attendees described a chaotic scene in which audience members โ€” many of whom were wearing trans pride pins โ€” jumped out of their seats, pointing and yelling at the panelists, and a professor allegedly rushed the stage,' the letter states.

The aftermath, the school charged PORTER.

For finger pointing.

And calling a man "sir."

Porter faces expulsion for the allegations ...

The Title IX investigation into [Houston] Porter comes after the Oct. 15 panel 'erupted'' in 'pandemonium,' according to FIRE's letter to Pace University.

Again, Porter is the one being investigated. Because he allegedly "misgendered" someone.

The university sent Porter a 'Notice of Allegation' which said he 'engaged in sex-based harassment' when he 'aggressively pointed' at the student and 'purposefully referred to her [a biological male] as a man.'

Welcome to modern higher education, where pointing at someone and calling them by the correct biological pronoun could get you expelled from college.

I thought we were done with this nonsense? Someone needs to tell Pace we rejected this at the ballot box.

Porter, for his part, maintains his complete innocence. According to him he never pointed at or "misgendered" anyone (even though he should wear that as a badge of honor!). In all the chaos he fails to see how anyone could tell what was happening.

While the school can 'restrict discriminatory expression' when it is 'actionable harassment' this is not the case here, according to Appleby.

The language 'must be so severe, pervasive, and objectionably offensive that it deprives the victim of access to the educational opportunities and benefits the school offers,' according to [Group Representative] Appleby.

'That is a very high bar. The allegations of misgendering and aggressive pointing made here fall far short of meeting that standard,' she said.

In the last month since the story broke, Pace University still hasn't responded to requests for info, let alone the legal requests to knock it off.
