We should thank the Lord every day that we have the fine folks at the Babylon Bee uncovering the most important stories and bringing you the most accurate fact-based journalism anywhere:
The content safety team for the social media site X (formerly Twitter) has announced major progress in fighting child grooming on the platform. According to their statistics, child grooming content on Elon Musk's social media app has plummeted by 83% since Disney pulled ads in an effort to boycott X.
Here's the headline:
Verdict: 100% truth, right?
You may recall that X Community Notes had to provide context for the Bee joke because it is "believable."
Not satisfied, Reuters felt compelled to write an entire fact check of its own:
There is no evidence of an announcement by social media platform X that its volume of child "grooming" content fell by 83% since Disney stopped advertising on the platform, as suggested by online posts recirculating that claim, which stems from a satirical news website.
No evidence?! I'm sorry, The Bee reported on it, didn't they?? What more evidence do you need???
Apparently the folks at Reuters just had nothing better to do than besmirch one of the world's most trusted news and information platforms. Just hateful stuff here.
As disgraceful as this show of "journalism" is, here's the best part:
Representatives for both Walt Disney Co. and X did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
They ... called Disney? Over a Babylon Bee article?
Folks, this is beyond the Babylon Bee; this is beyond even Not the Bee territory. We're entering into uncharted, full-on Bee Alternative Universe space. All bets are off.
Can you imagine the Disney PR flak who got that call from Reuters? You can just picture the guy answering the phone and being asked about claims of "child-grooming" material made by a satire site.
Keep it up, Reuters - you're doing satirical journalism better than any of us!
