Fox News has confirmed what we all already suspected: Our beloved brother site and undisputed Satire Champion of the World, The Babylon Bee, has the power to bend reality toward itself like some sort of hilarious super magnet:
The Bee is now writing the script to reality. It's the Babylon Bee's world now, and when your big brother makes it, you make it. So mama, we made it.
Our man Seth Dillon, Babylon Bee's CEO, spoke with Fox News about the unbelievable number of satirical articles the Bee has published that have inexplicably turned into real life, despite being over-the-top jokes when published ... nearly 100!
The world appears to be speeding toward the reality/satire singularity at the speed of light. Which is why Not the Bee is here, of course.
"The problem isn't that our satire is too close to reality," Seth said. "It's that reality is too close to satire, so our jokes keep coming true.
"We have a spreadsheet of nearly 100 jokes now that we've tracked. They were fulfilled like prophecies instead of punch lines.
"There are all the time stories that come across the screen that are just incredibly outrageous. You know you wouldn't believe that they're true, and we have to do a double take and see, is this parody, is this a real story?"
Seth lists a bunch of fulfilled prophecies in the Fox article, including the following headlines:
- To Improve Public Perception, Kamala Harris Taking Likability Lessons From Hillary Clinton (That actually ended up happening)
- Trump: 'I Have Done More For Christianity Than Jesus' (Trump later said, "Nobody has done more for Christianity or for evangelicals or for religion itself than I have")
- 9 Reasons Not To Worry About The Tanking Economy (Two days later WaPo ran "7 ways a recession could be good for you financially")
- Biden Says He'll Shoot Down Chinese Spy Balloon As Soon As He's Done Letting It Spy (You know what happened...)
I asked Seth for a comment for this article and here's what he wanted to tell y'all:
Sometimes it feels like Democrats are reading the Bee like it's a playbook, trying to decide what they should do next.
It's not easy making jokes that are funnier than what Democrats are doing in real life. If you happen to pull it off, it only stays a joke for a matter of days or weeks.
You'd think that if everything you're doing used to be a comedy bit, you might stop and think about whether you're on the right track. Do you really want to play a part in turning the world into a parody of itself?
We are so proud of our Bee folks and the incredible work they're doing.
Keep changing the world, dear brethren.
P.S. Ayyye thanks for the shout out, Seth!
